The cannabis practice area is led by Keith Herrick, who has been at the forefront of this issue since 2012.
Serving as a lobbyist, policy expert, business consultant and municipal grassroots manager, Keith has extensive experience in both medical and adult-use cannabis businesses.

Patients First, which brought like-minded medical providers together to help advocate for these policies. In addition, Keith has served as a business consultant, helping caregivers grow their business while remaining compliant with the laws and regulations set forth by the State and their local municipality. Keith has lobbied for caregivers over the past eight years, advocating for a fair system that allows medical providers to compete in a free market and be treated like any other business by Maine’s regulators. ADULT-USE MARIJUANA

In 2016, Keith was part of a team that merged two competing adult-use marijuana legalization referendums in Maine. Then, Keith served as one of the campaign advisors on the Yes on 1 campaign. After passage, the referendum went back to the Legislature for review where Keith has lobbied since to implement the adult-use marijuana program.

In 2018, Keith was a part of a team that brought together medical marijuana providers, engineers, insurance agents, banks, security companies, lawyers and others to form a group known as the Maine Cannabis Industry Association, which focuses on a safe, regulated, equitable adult-use marijuana market. In addition, Keith has managed five municipal opt-in referendums and various town ordinance efforts.
